Lane 8 takes Sultan + Shepard’s “nCTRL” for progressive spin with new remix

Back when Sultan + Shepard dropped “nCTRL” in March, house fans went haywire. Many had been waiting for the song to come out since Lane 8 played it during his sunrise stream a few months back, and so this news is going to be music to everyone’s ears. The legend has put his own groovy spin on it for a sensational remix that was released yesterday on his label This Never Happened, as part of Sultan + Shepard’s remix EP.

The combination of these artists’ sounds makes for a match made in heaven. The “nCTRL” remix has an ethereal beginning, with shimmering chords and a slow, crawling build that lets you know you’re in for a true heater. Lane 8 takes their four-minute techno-inspired tune and fleshes it out into over seven minutes, infusing the track with a smooth yet powerful progressive tempo and breathing bouncy energy into an already vibrant song.

You can listen to his version below. Enjoy!

Electronic Musician of Many Monikers Remixes Passion Pit, Animal Collective and More

Carlos Pesina is a complex and colorful experimental remix artist and musician from Guadalahara, Mexico. He produces and remixes music under various monikers – Los Amparito, Pepepe and Pesina Siller – on multiple indie labels, which makes it difficult to write about his work.

Nevertheless, his electronic, micro-sampling remixes brim with cheerful, eccentric, esoteric, sublime, even dreamy sounds. In and around Guadalahara, Pesina is best known as Pepepe. The latter is the chosen moniker for his latest album, and second release for indie record label The Poni Republic, Roba Orgón De Plantas Y Animales (available as a free download; see link below).

Recently, Pesina produced a remix of “Little Secrets” for a Passion Pit remix contest to promote the band’s new album Manners. In addition, he created a remix of “Bros” – a standout track from the classic 2008 indie solo release Person Pitch by Animal Collective’s Noah Lennox (aka, Panda Bear), plus a remix of the Animal Collective track “Brothersport” from this year’s most brilliant psyche pop release, Merriweather Post Pavilion.

“Little Secrets” (Passion Pit Remix) – Carlos Pesina, unreleased (2009)

“Stacey You Are A Monster” (Unsexy Nerd Ponies Remix) – Pepepe from Remixes (2008)

New Remix of Radiohead’s "Reckoner" from DJ Diplo

Some Radiohead fans will definitely take issue with the following remix of one of the biggest songs from In Rainbows – Reckoner. According to the deejay Diplo himself, he was asked by “the band” to do a remix, and apparently was given their blessing to go ahead and release it on his blog.

Listen or download the remix here:

MP3: Reckoner v2.0 (Diplo Train Wreck Remix) – Radiohead

Radiohead purists will find this remix a vast departure from the original on the history-making In Rainbows album, but the fact is that a whole new generation of Radiohead fans – especially all you ravers out there – will more likely find value in this remix.

What is your opinion, does this remix, hailed on some blogs, slammed on others, do Radiohead any justice? Give your opinion by going to this post link and then clicking on the ‘Post Comment’ link.
