Lane 8 takes Sultan + Shepard’s “nCTRL” for progressive spin with new remix

Back when Sultan + Shepard dropped “nCTRL” in March, house fans went haywire. Many had been waiting for the song to come out since Lane 8 played it during his sunrise stream a few months back, and so this news is going to be music to everyone’s ears. The legend has put his own groovy spin on it for a sensational remix that was released yesterday on his label This Never Happened, as part of Sultan + Shepard’s remix EP.

The combination of these artists’ sounds makes for a match made in heaven. The “nCTRL” remix has an ethereal beginning, with shimmering chords and a slow, crawling build that lets you know you’re in for a true heater. Lane 8 takes their four-minute techno-inspired tune and fleshes it out into over seven minutes, infusing the track with a smooth yet powerful progressive tempo and breathing bouncy energy into an already vibrant song.

You can listen to his version below. Enjoy!

Nimino releases lush, conceptual debut album ‘Rooms On The Ark’

nimino

Milo Evans, aka nimino, is a musician from London who epitomizes what it means to be a SoundCloud artist. The self-taught musician first broke onto the platform with his iconic remix of the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind” that came out seven years ago. Since then, nimino has refined his sound and production skills and has teamed up with TH3RD BRAIN for the release of his debut album, Rooms On The Ark.

Rooms On The Ark is filled to the brim with sultry pitched vocals, impressive features, organic instrumentation, futuristic sound design, and diverse harmonic elements.

There is an element of calm present throughout but not without utilizing some dance-focused electronic tricks and techniques in between. The entire project tells a beautiful story and is one reason why we’d recommend taking some time out of your day to listen to it all the way through with as few distractions as possible.

You only get one chance at making a debut album and we’re nothing but impressed by nimino’s successful attempt. Stream the full project below and enjoy!

Tame Impala shares cryptic new video teaser ‘Rushium’

Tame Impala took to socials to share a cryptic new video teasing… something. The clip is certainly an announcement for new content of some sort, but we’re left to speculate as to what it exactly could be. Some of the only concrete details revealed was a release date of “09/21,” a hashtag of #AionWell.

The video is soundtracked by The Slow Rush track “Posthumous Forgiveness,” however it appeared to have a tweaked mix, leading many to believe that this is a teaser of a follow-up B-Sides release. Considering that each Tame Impala studio album has released a companion B-Sides & Remixes EP, this perhaps might be the most likely.

There are also others who are suggesting that this is a tour announcement. On the freshly launched AionWell website, there’s an image of a bottle of “Rushium” with some fine print that reads “S.R. Tour.” If you take the survey about time on that site, you’re prompted to enter your info for a mailing list.

Fans on social media are already considering other possibilities as well. Some believe that this is a trailer for the “Posthumous Forgiveness” music video, however it seems a bit odd to announce a music video release three months in advance.

Swiss indie artist DRKTMS crafts chilled-out dance groove on “Gravity”

The joy we get from discovering a new artist on the rise just simply never gets old. DRKTMS is a producer from Switzerland who has established himself with his chilled out dance remixes of artists like Cabu and GOLDA. The Swiss producer has a knack for creating infectious laid back grooves that fall in a soundscape somewhere between SG Lewis and Snakehips. Ready to grow his original sound even further he’s teamed up with fellow Swiss singer, Milesikco, on “Gravity.”

The track maintains DRKTMS’ signature chilled out aesthetic by creating a gloomy yet groovy feel. Some warm synthesizer chords drive the track along while Milesikco’s melancholic and soulful vocals round things out to create a vibey club-worthy tune fit for just about any afterparty.

U.K. multi-instrumentalist Hemai melds soul, jazz & electronic on ‘Strange Beauty’

hemai-musicianThere’s no shortage of talent to come out of the UK and it’s always exciting to see a new face emerge onto the scene. Incredibly talented producer and multi-instrumentalist, Hemai, sonically melds soul and jazz with just enough electronic flair and has managed to stand out amongst the crowd. He’s graced us with his debut album, Strange Beauty, which already shows a maturation that very few artists manage to accomplish so early in their careers.

Strange Beauty is a collection of stories of the love, spirit and balance of the universe. Hemai experiments with the idea of movement and the present, bringing together some of his favorite sounds from around the world and merging them with his UK roots.

He recruits a multitude of talented singers and musicians to provide the harmonic soul on the project but the true beauty lies in his ability to craft sonic novels in each track. Boundary-less and beautiful, Strange Beauty is a testament to the thoughtfulness and meticulous nature of Hemai’s production and dedication to music he makes.
