best indie albums 2008
This is an especially timely Halloween playlist in that it starts out with the freshly baked new web 'hit' song from Them Crooked Vultures, a super group that includes drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss) and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), with Alain Johannes (Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age) joining on guitar for live shows.
Them Crooked Vulture's new song, "New Fang," and the band, have become leading topics on Twitter and other social networks, music blogs and entertainment sites. Included above is a live video of the song, and below, a radio version for streaming. Them Crooked Vultures' debut album drops on November 17th on DGC/Interscope.
Following the opener for this latest Halloween playlist is QOTSA classic Halloween rocker "Burn The Witch." Also is a just released new Halloween song, "Visions," from French Kiss Records recording artist Sean Bones, followed by tracks and treats from plus The Mae Shi, M83, Marilyn Manson, The Cave Singers, Cheekyboy, The Kinks, Franz Ferdinand, The Magnetic Fields, Man Man, Ministry and Logan Lynn.
