Back in 1989 indie, or alternative, music was still in it's infancy. Sure, a year or two later, Nirvana shook the music world and introduced a generation of 'alternative' rock bands.But 1989 was still a year of in which indie music began to grow in popularity as college radio stations, and some revolutionary commercial disc jockeys, spun tunes from bands like The Pixies, Yo La Tengo, Galaxie 500, Sonic Youth, and precious others.

The cosmos-invoking name did not stop this group of talented artists from releasing one of the best indie albums of 1989 and the beginning of the indie music movement. Playing With Fire not only offered curious music fans a chance to see what it was like for musicians to experiment with sounds, but it also serves as a tribute to class indie song writing and lyrics.
